Life is a busy-bee

My last post was on September the 20th, seems like it was a l-o-n-g time ago but I see it is only a month. During this time I have had my mother stay a week with me, I have had my grand children staying a few days every week (they are here now) and it just seems like time flies and there is never enough of it.

The last time I posted in my blog at Wordpress was the 6th of Sept. and I need to get busy because the holidays are coming and time will be even shorter.

I haven't posted any new photo packs in the store.

If you have not looked over there, the packs are very affordable ($1.50 on average) and while you won't the copyrights, you can use these for pretty much anything you want to create, in print or online.

There have been some sales in my Zazzle stores, people getting ready for Christmas I suppose.

If any of you are on Pinterest, please follow me and of course I will follow you!

If anyone is interested in history or genealogy, I updated two blogs that I had been very neglectful of while getting my digital photography going.

Please visit "Texas History Hunter's Blog" on Blogspot and "Texas History Hunter" on Tumblr and follow me if you enjoy the post.

If you have an online presence (blog, website, store, etc) you really should have a Gravatar. I have found it helps me by keeping everything in one place with easy access.

Here is a new photo I have not yet released and if you are visiting this blog, you will be the only ones to have it. You can use it however you wish so long as you do NOT put your copyright on it. You can use it at Zazzle or Cafepress, etc, stationary, cards or in a scrapkit or for supplies in a tutorial. Credit is always appreciated but not a requirement.

Come and gone

The summer has come and gone and I have been busy, not necessarily with my digital photography but keeping 3 of my 4 granddaughters and with genealogy. I have to spread my attention around. I also try to have fun in the PSP community by making animated tag sets plus I moderate a typography forum so I keep busy.

There is some news I would like to share. I am going to have a 4th granddaughter in Jan 2014 and her sister will turn 1 yr old the next month, in February. The only boy in our whole family is my sister's son. Poor guy!

If you are out scouting around the Net, stop by my Weebly site and let me know how you like it. http://sherryscamera.weebly.com.

Weebly is really an easy site to use to build a web presence. I love it. Why not visit right now and check it out for yourself!  Weebly - The Easiest Way To Create A Website

Are any of you from the Port Arthur/Bridge City area in Texas? Do you remember Esther's Seafood & Oyster Bar? It was a great place to eat and it was just at the base and sort of under the Rainbow Bridge. Here is a 2008 comment by a happy customer:
This is the fancy place we always go to when I'm in Port Arthur to see family.  It's got a wonderful atmosphere and great service, but the location under the Port Arthur side of the Rainbow Bridge is the best part about the whole experience.  I used to get red beans and rice, and it was always very good, but the last couple of times I've been I've gotten a giant plate of fried stuff and it was really too much.  If you go, I suggest skipping the fried catfish or shrimp and getting a traditional Cajun dish or the fresh catch.

It's just a beautiful restaurant.  I don't know if the same people owned the little crab shack that used to be behind it but I got barbecued legs there one night when I was maybe 8 that still count as one of my best meals ever so stop by that place if it's still open and you're in the area for a while as well.

Sadly, Esther's was a victim of Hurricane Ike and it has been closed since then. I found an article from Sept 2008 which told of the damage.
"Ike blew an aging shrimp boat, the Winky Dink, from the pier to the middle of the parking lot. Kurt Benoit said he plans to leave the boat there and christen it with a new name: Ike.

Before she returned, Esther’s son told her to expect “the worst you can imagine, and to double it,” she said." -- The News-Leader Sept 19, 2008
Back in 2006-07 I took a photo of the Rainbow Bridge from the piers in front of Esther's. I am so glad I captured the iconic restaurant.  I just sold my first copy of that photo on Zazzle:

The Rainbow Bridge connects Port Arthur (Jefferson County) to Bridge City (Orange County) over the Neches River and it opened Sept 8, 1938. It withstood Hurricane Ike seventy years to the month!

Well... I hope you all have a wonderful summer and I will see you soon.

All comments appreciated!

The New Store is Now Open

I just opened the shop over at Storenvy. Please visit http://sherrys_camera.storenvy.com and look around! The shop is new and has a few items but more is on the way once this new computer is figured out.

What is awesome about this new shop is now you can add multiple photo packs to your cart instead of purchasing one at a time and of course it is integrated with Paypal so you can pay with Paypal or your credit card, knowing it is all secure!

If any of you are wanting to open an online shop but you have been hesitating due to the complexities of shopping carts, web hosting, domain names and how to build your shop, keep the viruses away, etc. then you will definitely want to look over Storenvy and see this service is a good fit for you.

Look for more information in the next newsletter so be sure to sign up!

Crashed

My computer died. Thankfully, I had submitted an order yesterday for a new computer and it should be here within a few weeks maybe sooner.

Until then, shoot only through your lens.

City Park Photo Pack

Within this photo pack are 4 images, 12in x 12in and resolution is 300ppi.  The original photos have been manipulated with filters.

One image has a sepia filter applied to give a vintage look.
Two images have been textured with a canvas filter
One image has had a dreamy filter applied

$1.50

Here is a beautiful example of how you can use these photos for your digital scrapbooking. The frames are from Rebel Without a Pause Designs scrap kit "Remembrance" (# 0700) . I used Frame #3 for the 6 frames and then Frame #1 for the center.  (The photos used were rescued from the trash back in 1990 while I lived in Oklahoma. I do not know these folks.)

What you can do with my photo packs

Earlier I posted the "Floral Backgrounds" photo pack for sale. One of the images is a favorite, it is called "Spring" and is light pink with a dappling of yellow flowers.

I decided to try it on an iPhone case so folks could see how they could use the digital photos.

To see different angles of the phone, you can visit the Zazzle store where I have posted this case for sale. The photo is larger too.

Any of my photo packs can be used by the purchaser to do the same thing... make items to sell on Zazzle or Cafepress, etc.

Filtered Flowers Photo Pack

I call this collection "Filtered Flowers" because these are digital photos of flowers and flowering trees to which I have applied one or more filters to produce a desired effect.

This pack is a little different in that the images are 2832 x 2128 pixels, which is roughly 5.9in by 4.43in. These are also 480ppi instead of the traditional 300ppi.

Only $1.50
